Welcome to the first Whip It Up Wednesday at Mama Chirps, hosted by Naptime Is My Time! I've been really excited about this post because it's about a project I started months ago. Not lying. I started it, and then put it down forever. When we took a trip to Dallas a few weekends ago, I decided to bring it along with me as a way to force myself to work on it during the drive. I didn't finish on the way. I actually just finished it this past weekend in order to have it ready for my first Whip It Up Wednesday post. And here it is!:
These were knitted using a free wool longies pattern called Nifty Knickers. The pattern is also listed on Ravelry, my preferred site for finding free crochet and knitting patterns. Making the pattern into shorties is simple: don't extend the legs all the way down. Instead, just end your woolies at your desired length. I knitted them using a method called magic loop knitting, but regular circular knitting is what the pattern calls for.
I learned to knit when I was pregnant with my son, but I didn't do much with it. I made a little pair of baby socks, but that was about it. Teaching yourself how to knit can be a little confusing, but the site KnittingHelp.com is a life-saver if you're interested in trying! Although I'm fairly new to knitting, the Nifty Knickers pattern wasn't too difficult to follow. The most strenuous part was separating the crotch stitches from the leg stitches because the pattern doesn't tell you how to do so It required a little bit of maneuvering:
But I did it! And as a finishing touch of decoration, I crocheted a little mushroom in coordinating colors to sew onto the bum. Now I'm just happy to finally have my knitted shorties finished and on the booty! Because, of course, my favorite aspect of crafting is admiring the finished product .
